1. Can you please introduce yourself to our readers and describe a brief overview of your academic journey so far at IHM Australia?

My name is Mukul and I am a student of IHM Australia currently. My academic journey so far has been very helpful and encouraging. I am able to understand social issues and social work in a practical way. I got an opportunity to work with different communities through my studies, which helped in improving my communication skills and I learned the importance of empathy and professional ethics. I see a bright future because studying at IHM has helped me to build my skills and confidence.

2. What inspired you to study your current course of study, and what aspects of social or community work interest you the most?

I have been actively participating in activities involving social work or helping people since my childhood and that motivated me to opt for this course. Social work gives people a chance to help them in need and promote equality and wellbeing. I feel great that this course gives me the opportunity to work with people with different backgrounds and cultures. My efforts give them opportunities, help them find resources, and provide them a better life which drives me to do better every day.

3. What learning experiences or moments have impacted your interest in working with communities and people, considering your journey as a student so far?

My interest in social work was strongly influenced by case studies, assignments, group discussions, and practical learning during my studies. I was able to see the real-life problems faced by individuals and families. By learning about different cultures and social issues, I was able to help people by respecting their culture and background.

4. What is your take on digital literacy and its role in modern professional life? Why is digital literacy important for individuals entering social or community services today?

Digital literacy is extremely important in the modern professional world considering all records, processes and every small communication happen over digital platforms. Specifically, digital literacy helps them to communicate with clients at discrete locations, manage their records and help them connect with the required services. It also makes them aware about new policies, available support services and most importantly their rights to make informed decisions.

5. Have you come across any digital tools, online platforms, or learning tools that have helped you better understand professional life and community work during your course of study so far?

Yes, I have used different digital tools during my studies such as learning platforms, analytical tools, research websites and other communication while working with the classmates and my teachers which helped me in keeping a track and saving a lot of time. It also made learning very flexible and easy, and I was able to share my views more effectively.

6. What role do you think universities and training organizations can play to better equip students with digital literacy and technological awareness?

Universities and training organizations play a very important role in preparing students for the digital world. There are multiple digital tools, online research platforms, data management and communication platforms that universities can use in their workshops and help students to upskill themselves as per current professional requirements. By integrating technology with studies and practical work, universities can help students in building their confidence and equip them with the required skills.

7. What are your thoughts on how digital literacy and technological awareness can impact professionals today, considering how they work and communicate with people and communities?

Digital literacy and technological awareness help professionals to communicate better, connecting with individuals at discrete locations, staying connected, and keeping their records for future references. Technology helps them save a lot of time and share information when needed and provides prompt responses.

Overall, it helps professionals to provide effective services to more people and help them in accessing resources.

8. What are your thoughts on how digital literacy and technological awareness can impact professionals tomorrow, considering how they work and communicate with people and communities?

With emerging technology, digital literacy will become even more important in the future. The dependence on technology will increase, processes will be more digital and the more services will be online so it becomes extremely important for professionals to learn the technology with time. Strong digital skills will help professionals ensure smooth access to services, effective, and inclusive for individuals from all backgrounds.
